It was a busy weekend for the Baldwinsville employees of Gypsum Express, so thankfully this time the weather was warm and sunny! The weekend’s events began on Friday, June 9th, when recruiter, Bob Lingyak and Vice President of Vans, Jerry Harris attended the National Tractor Trailer School Job Fair in Liverpool, New York. The event was open to individuals interested in learning more about a new career as a professional driver in the trucking industry. NTTS admissions representatives were there to discuss the courses offered at NTTS, and recruiters from eleven different trucking companies were there to educate potential drivers about career opportunities. The fair continued on Saturday afternoon, and the turnout was great; we were really able to connect with some of the future students. We are enthusiastic about the end results from being a part of events with trucking schools such as NTTS, and we will continue to participate in these job fairs in the future!
Saturday also had more in store for Gypsum Express, as Director of Safety, Dennis Plucinik and Safety Specialist, Neal Venette attended the 23rd annual Seneca River Day Festival in Baldwinsville, New York. This free, family-friendly event offered classic cars, food, crafts, live music, animals, magic shows, hands-on projects, treasure hunts, competitions, The Great Seneca River Duck Race, and of course one of our Gypsum trucks! The children loved climbing around inside one of our Internationals, and they received Gypsum Express frisbees. The day was a total success, and a lot of fun! We are always thankful to be included in community events, and get the word out about our awesome drivers!
Overall, the weekend was jam-packed with activities, and the summer is just beginning! The Baldwinsville terminal also kicked off the beginning of this year’s employee-appreciation parties, so be sure to check back in this week to see all the fun!
